Amman, Jordan. The
center is accredited by the ministry of education in
Jordan, and
Brookhaven College in the USA. We would like to invite
university and
college students to apply for our Arabic language programs
which are held
thoughout the year. Each Program is
actually a package
consisting of a
4-week long intensive Arabic language course, a comfortable
accommodation, and
an optional weekly tour to a touristic site in Jordan.
Three levels of
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Colloquial Jordanian
courses are offered in each session. Arabic and
Islamic culture courses
are also offered
upon request. Instructor-led programs
can also be
arranged upon
request.

Summer 2012 Opportunity for Students: Summer Institute for Intensive Arabic Language and Cultureat Lebanese American University (Beirut Campus) The Summer Institute for Intensive Arabic Language and Culture(SINARC) is a multi-faceted language and cultural immersion programthat welcomes students from all over the world. In operation for over14 years, SINARC has quickly become a top choice for Arabic languagelearners looking not only to improve their language skills but also togain an understanding of the cultural and social dynamics in theregion. The SINARC program is hosted each year at the Lebanese AmericanUniversity (Beirut Campus), one of the premier institutions of highereducation and research in Lebanon and the region. The campus situatedin the heart of the Lebanese capital provides students a uniqueperspective on Lebanese culture and daily life. SINARC offers courses in Arabic language and culture at various levelsof proficiency. Each level provides twenty hours per week of intensiveclassroom instruction, including five hours per week of LebaneseDialect. Formal language instruction is enriched by immersion in anauthentic cultural context. Cultural activities include weeklylectures on topics related to Arab and Lebanese politics, history,society, and culture. In addition, students partake in a series ofexcursions to historical, cultural and tourist sites throughoutLebanon and Syria. PROGRAM DATES Students have a Summer and Fall program option: The six-week Summer program (June 25 - August 3, 2012) is offered atfour levels: Elementary, Upper Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced.A separate eight-credit course in Lebanese Dialect will be offeredprovided there is sufficient enrollment. The 15-week Fall program (September 10 - December 14, 2012) is offeredat two levels: Intermediate and Advanced. In addition, two specialcourses are available: Arabic Language Writing Skills and Middle EastChallenges of the 21st Century. SUMMER PROGRAM COST Tuition ($295 per credit) -- $2,360Room (double occupancy)* -- $950Excursions (transportation, entrance fees, one overnight stay) -- $250Total $3,560 *Note: Single occupancy in LAU dorms is $400 extra, depending on availability. Meals and round trip travel to Beirut, books, and supplies are not included. Round-trip tickets to Beirut cost approximately U.S.$ 1,200 from NewYork and approximately U.S.$ 600 from Europe. We urge participants tomake travel plans as early as possible in order to take advantage ofdiscounted prices. Participants are required to purchase comprehensivehealth insurance, unless they can provide evidence of comparablecoverage. Emergency health insurance for coverage over the duration ofthe program may be purchased through LAU upon arrival for $75. Transportation for arrival and departure between Beirut InternationalAirport and LAU-Beirut is provided to SINARC students free of charge.Additional transportation needs within Lebanon are the responsibilityof students.
