Research Interests
My fields of research are the formation of socio-economic networks and coalitions, and how networks affect behaviour and economic outcomes. My recent work has focused on the patterns of links formation among heterogeneous agents, on the implied segregation and discrimination patterns and on the phenomenon of homophily.
Recent papers on these subjects include:
- Homophily and Long Run Integration in Social Networks, Journal of Economic Theory, forthcoming 2012 (with Y. Bramouille, M. Jackson, P. Pin and B. Rogers), http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jet.2012.05.007 Download
- Identifying Sources of Racial Homophily in High School Friendship Networks Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the U.S.A. (PNAS) 107, 4857-4861, 2010 (with M.O. Jackson and P. Pin).
- An Economic Model of Friendship: Homophily, Minorities and Segregation, Econometrica 77 (4), 1003-1045, 2009 (with M.O. Jackson and P. Pin).
- A Simple Model of Homophily in Social Networks, (with F. Vega Redondo), revised May 2012.
-Homophily, Identity and In-Group Bias: Experimental Evidence, (with F. Mengel), revised November 2012.
