Graduate in Foreign Languages and Literatures
in the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice and in Humanities
in the University of Trieste; PhD in History in the University
of Szeged. After many years spent working in the Venetian States
Archives she is now Associate Professor of History of Islamic
Countries in the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice, Department
of Asian and North African Studies. She taught History of the Ottoman Empire
in the PISAI (Pontificio Istituto di Studi Arabi e Islamistica)
in Rome.
She is member of IsIAO (Istituto Italiano per l’Africa e
l’Oriente), IPOCAN (Istituto per l’Oriente «Carlo
Alfonso Nallino), SIHMed (Société Internationale
des Historiens de la Méditerranée), CIÉPO
(Comité International d’Études Pré-Ottomanes
et Ottomanes), IAOSEH (International Association for Ottoman and
Social History), MSG (Mediterranean Studies Group of
the University Hitosubashi of Tokyo), and of the Deputazione di Storia Patria per le Venezie. She is member of the advisory
board of the journals «Tarih incelemeleri dergisi»
of University Ege of Izmir, «Gazi Akademik Bakis» of Gazi University of Istanbul, «Uluslararasi Sosyal Arastirmalar Dergisi» and «Iacobus. Revista de estudios jacobeos
y medievales» She is also member of the Executive Committee
of the Association of Historical Studies «Muda di Levante».
Awards: «Premio Arnaldo Segarizzi - Vittorio Lazzarini» (1995) for the book "Veneta auctoritate notarius" and «Premio Antico Pignolo» (2010) for the book "Venezia porta d'Oriente".
