• A book by K.E. Haines (my wife) Autumn Sonata (in English).

A love story based on the musical structure of a Brahms’ sonata, Autumn Sonata charts the star-crossed, worldly paths of Emily and Simon, whose fates converge at a conference in Istanbul.

I'll leave it to the reader to judge whether or not I was the inspiration for Emily's husband. My wife swears the characters are fictitious. I certainly hope so because Emily’s husband doesn't come across as a very nice person. The fact that my wife included me in the dedication is somewhat reassuring.

• A book by L. Giarre' (a colleague of mine of the University of Palermo) Il Professore che Rubava Panini (in Italian).

A fictional story of a strange university professor. The life of the main character was inspired by the (odd) life that I led when I spent ten years at the University of Palermo.
