Dino Rizzi was born in 1956. He graduated in Economics at the University of Venice. He obtained a Master in Economics at the University of York and then a Ph.D. in Public Finance at the University of Pavia. He has carried out studies for Commissione Tecnica per la Spesa Pubblica, for the Commissione per l'indagine sulla povertà and has collaborated in the preparation of the Reports on the distribution and redistribution of income in Italy for CNEL.
He is now Professor of Scienza delle finanze (Public Finance).
His fields of specialization are public economics, economics of inequality and poverty, economics of education, efficiency analysis of public services.
He was delegate of the Rector for the definition of students' tuition fees and grants, delegate of the Rector for the university performance evaluation.
From 1996 to 1999 he was member of the
National University Evaluation Council (Osservatorio per la valutazione del sistema universitario) of the Italian Ministry for Universities and Scientific and Technologic Research (Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica). From 1999 to 2001 he was Chairman of the Internal Evaluation Unit (Nucleo di valutazione interna) of the Ca' Foscari University.

From 2002 to 2008 he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Economics.
